The Carp....
The lake contains around 130 beautiful hand selected carp which are young, hard fighting fish from 20 to 61lbs+ .
In 2012 95% of these fish will be over 25lbs, with approx 60 x 30's, 20 x 40's and four fish over 50lbs, two of these including a common are 60's.
Amongst the stock are some pretty fish and scaley specimens along with grass carp to 30lb+.
There are also 30 "stockies" which are currently in the 8-16lbs class - these stunning young carp are a big part of the future here.
Our stocking programme is designed to achieve a balance - good sport along with the chance to catch some very big carp.
We have a mix of strains in order to provide variety, and all our fish are in tiptop condtion (no broken tails or parrot mouths here)
please help us to keep it this way with careful and responsible fish care. The photos below illustrate a cross section of the fish stock.

Our policy has always been to buy young fish and grow them on in the lake.
Our carefully selected first stock were introduced in spring 2007. More carp were added in December 2007, March 2008 and November 2008
bringing the total population and biomass of the carp to the correct level.
Over the winter of 2010/2011 we removed a few of the carp that were not making progress, these have been replaced with some stunning young
fish which although they are currently in the 8-16lb range, are very beautiful and will rapidly become the monsters of the future !
We do not over feed our carp, it is essential for all fish to consume plenty of natural food within their diet,
when over fed on pellet the carp become overweight unhealthy fish whose life span will be shortened.
The management of the fish stock will continue over the years as we strive to maintain the population of carp at the correct level in order to produce the balance neccesary for both good sport and continued growth, this is not easy to achieve but we have the professional ability to enable the maintenance of a balanced fishery with a population of carp in pristine condition.
