About the venue...

At Les Croix we are passionate about carp fishing and professional in the way we manage our venue. Although Les Croix could be classed
as a "commercial lake" we don't follow the crowds and we do not advertise in carp magazines or internet forums. Filling the banks with
as many anglers as possible for 30 weeks of the year is not our idea of running a quality carp fishery.

The venue offers a 3.6 acre lake, privately owned by a British couple and managed by a UK qualified fisheries officer, with a balanced
stock of big carp to more than 60lbs. Les Croix also offers self-contained lakeside accommodation finished to a very high standard.

Over the course of the last 5 years we have built a solid reputation as a quality carp fishing holiday venue and we now have a base of
regular customers who enjoy the advantages of being able to book the venue exclusively, and a holiday with the chance to catch
some very big fish in pristine condition, whilst also enjoying the facilities that are provided on site.

Although Les Croix can comfortably take 4 anglers, we know that limiting the number to 2 results in a better experience
for our clients and so from 2012 we will be limiting the number of anglers to 2 per week. We only allow experienced carp anglers
to fish here because we genuinely care about our fish and their welfare. The lake is closed for 4 weeks mid-season.
 
In contrast to many French venues, Les Croix has always fished well in the daytime - we do not encourage 24/7 fishing -
one of the main reasons that people choose Les Croix for their holiday is that they don't need to fish at night to catch carp.
Resting the lake during the hours of darkness, whilst enjoying the comfort and facilities of the accommodation has always produced
the best catches, and our customers have reported a more enjoyable and relaxing holiday by following this approach.

Many of our bookings are from couples - with only one angler fishing the lake for many weeks of the year and several weeks
when we close the lake, the carp are not under continual angling pressure - one of many reasons why they are in pristine condition.
 
Since we opened in April 2008, every week of each season has seen at least one 30lb+ carp landed, with most weeks seeing plenty
of thirties and loads of twenties caught. In 2011 40lb+ carp have featured in catches most weeks.
The astonishing growth rates of the carp here in 2011 should produce an exceptional year in 2012...

All our carp are in immaculate condition - no broken tails ar parrot mouths here, customers are provided with high quality
carp care equipment - NASH 42" landing nets, large unhooking mats, tripods and recovery weigh slings, these MUST be used,
please leave your nets, mats and slings at home and use the space in your car for other things !

As previously stated we do not advertise the venue, preferring the best publicity of all which does not come instantly from glossy adverts,
 but over time from word of mouth, this relies on our reputation for professionalism and attention to detail.We keep in touch
with our customers on a regular basis with newsletters and we post weekly catch reports and updates on our blog - so you can

Please note - we allow a maximum of 2 anglers + 4 guests at Les Croix.

Our prices are based on the number of anglers and guests, so it is less expensive for small parties and an affordable option for couples.....
even if there is just one person fishing, you can book the accommodation and lake to yourselves for the week !
 
Freshly prepared food is available, home cooked meals, breakfast lunch and dinner, when required, or you can order a full food package
for the week. Click here to see the menu. Fresh bread, croissants, cakes, etc from an award winning local bakery are delivered 3 days a week.
 
Frozen boilies from Premier Baits are available on site, also quality carp pellets, so no need to worry about how much bait to bring.

We have a small tackle shop, and we offer hire of carp fishing tackle (bivvies, rods, pods, bedchairs, chairs etc.).

 
 Limoges airport is only 25 minutes from Les Croix and with flights available from a wide choice of local UK airports, we are able to offer a
Fly-Drive option with tackle hire, should you wish to arrive by air. A maximum flight time of one and a half hours and a 25 minute drive
from the airport to the lake makes this a very interesting alternative to the drive from the ferry ports. The airlines which fly into Limoges
are Flybe and Ryanair - both offer excellent deals when booking in advance. Click here for more information on this option.

There is plenty to see and do locally if you wish to take a break from fishing, along with some top restaurants in the local area,
the lake is secure, and we are on site 24/7 - so you can leave your gear unattended without worry, should you wish to leave the site.
